Say goodbye to that empty feeling of gameplay on the Playstation 3. The Playstation 3 will finally be getting a rumble enabled controller. Yesterday at the Destination PlayStation retail and publisher conference in Arizona, the release date and pricing of the DUALSHOCK 3 (aka DS3) was announced by SCEA. The rumble/vibration Playstation 3 controller will be available in April 2008 for $54.95. That's $5 more than the currently available PS3 SIXAXIS motion controller, which retails for $49.99 MSRP. Surely the SIXAXIS controller pricing will go down eventually, maybe even be taken out of SCEA's production.
In addition to being available for $54.95 on its own, the DUALSHOCK 3 will be included in the newly announced Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots 80GB PS3 bundle. No word if the 40GB Playstation 3 will be repackaged with the DUALSHOCK 3 instead of the SIXAXIS. The DUALSHOCK 3 can currently be purchased from places such as Amazon.com or Play-Asia for about $59.99. The imported controller from Japan will work on US consoles. I've had mine for a few months and the rumble is definitely worth it. How do you feel about the DUALSHOCK 3 pricing in the US? Are you sold on a rumbling PS3 controller for $54.95?
