The video game industry shows no signs of slowdown. NPD Group video game sales data is in for the month of February 2008. Combined hardware and software sales increased 34% to $1.33 billion. On the video game hardware sales front, Nintendo once again dominates top spots with the Nintendo DS leading as #1 and Wii in #2. Sony has it's three consoles (PS2, Playstation 3 and PSP) taking a considerable chunk of sales, as the PS2 continues to thrive in a next-gen era. The Xbox 360 comes in just above the last spot, due to supply shortages. Don't underestimate the 360. When it comes to individual games sales, Microsoft's Xbox 360 continues to move games the most, taking 5 spots in software sales. For video game software sales, Activision's Call of Duty 4 (Xbox 360) leads the pack once again. Capcom's Devil May Cry 4 makes a respectable punch, taking spots #2 (Xbox 360) and #4 (Playstation 3). Good on Capcom on going multi-platform, despite Sony fanboys complaints about the series going platform agnostic. SEGA's Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games represents the DS at #6 (SEGA recently announced 5 million in global sales for the joint SEGA and Nintendo game). Here's the February 2008 video game sales data breakdown:
