Battlefield: Bad Company Closed Multiplayer Beta keys are being distributed. It's a closed beta, meaning that it won't be openly available as a download from the Xbox Live Marketplace. A couple of ways to have obtained a key was to get it from IGN/GameSpy or pre-order the Battlefield: Bad Company (Xbox 360) game from GameStop. The beta testing is being done on the Xbox 360, beginning on March 25, 2008 and ending on April 25, 2008.
There are two maps included in the beta: Ascension and Oasis. The Ascension map is an infantry based map, while the Oasis map is vehicle based with tanks, jeeps and helicopters. There's a game mode called “Gold Rush,” which will allow 12 vs. 12 team multiplayer. If you already have a download code, you can now download it from the Xbox Live Marketplace. It's a little over 1GB. Menu items such as the Multiplayer mode and Extras (Awards, Stats and Dogtags) can be viewed, but servers for gameplay will not be active until Tuesday, March 25, 2008. Battlefield: Bad Company is estimated for a June 2008 release on the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3. See more on the game at the official Battlefield: Bad Company website.
