The Kojima Productions Report is going to be a hot point of interest in the weeks ahead until Metal Gear Solid 4's June 12th release. Tune in and flood their lines at the Hideo Blog.
In today's newly released Episode 85, host Ryan Payton, Mark MacDonald and Christine bring the latest info and developments on Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Online and Metal Gear Solid Mobile. The limited edition, rather the SOLD OUT edition, of the gunmetal MGS4 PLAYSTATION 3 is currently in production in Japan. The MGS4 LE PLAYSTATION 3 won't just be a painted over PS3, but the molding material will be in the gunmetal color. Differences of the Limited Edition and the standard edition of the MGS4 game are also discussed. Contents of the Limited Edition are not finalized yet, but there will be an "announcement on that soon." It was also clarified that the pre-order bonus disc (Metal Gear Solid Saga 2) is different from the Limited Edition bonus disc. Ryan and Mark also speak on how Metal Gear Solid 4 will be the first PLAYSTATION 3 game to use a dual layer Blu-ray disc (50GB capacity, instead of the standard 25GB). "Being the first dual layer game is kinda risky," said Ryan, "you have to make sure it goes through all the tests and stuff, so you have to submit it a little early. There's a lot of things that go into being the first dual layer game." Hopefully the PLAYSTATION 3 won't have the same experience as the Nintendo Wii's first dual layer DVD experience was with Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Listen to the full podcast for more details, as well as info on the Metal Gear Online Beta, Metal Gear Solid Mobile and Monster Hunter!
