Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack Available At 9:30 AM EST Today (4/4/08); [now available]

The wait is ~~almost~~ over. The Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack (Xbox 360) will be available from the Xbox Live Marketplace at 9:30am EST today, Friday. Have to give credit to COD4 community manager Robert Bowling at iamfourzerotwo.com for keeping fans updated throughout the wait. Robert also says there's a bonus if you play the new maps this weekend: "In addition to the map packs hitting, I hear there may be a little extra XP up for grabs this weekend when playing on the new maps."

See a couple of newly released videos of the Call of Duty 4 map pack and a fly-through of Broadcast, Creek, Chinatown and Killhouse, from Infinity Ward.

The Variety Map Pack goes for 800 Microsoft Points ($10) and is available in the Call of Duty 4: Game of the Year Edition.

UPDATE: The Variety Map Pack is now available from the Xbox Live Marketplace. The download is about 445MB. Description from the Xbox 360 Dashboard: "Reinforcements have arrived! The Variety Map Pack includes four new multiplayer maps featuring a variety of locations. “Creek,” a wide-open village ravaged by combat where concealment is the difference between life and death; “Broadcast,” fight throughout an enemy communications building with confined corridors and wide-open parking lots; “Chinatown,” a foggy downtown district, lit only by a full moon and the neon glow of the city; and “Killhouse,” featuring a desolate training warehouse filled with a variety of building mock-ups and soft and hard cover points."

What is up with that? Why do PS3 owners, and PC owners, get the shaft when it comes to updates from Infinity Ward? 3 weeks late for the patch, 3 weeks late for the maps now. In truth, I hope that the maps come out April 29th, and GTA4 sales destroy I
