PLAYSTATION 3 Firmware 2.30, PLAYSTATION Store Redesign Now Available PDF Print E-mail

System Update 2.30 for the PLAYSTATION 3 is now available. As the update says: "PLAYSTATION Store has been updated. Usability has been improved for a more enjoyable shopping experience." Navigating around the PLAYSTATION Store is much easier and faster now. There's a slight delay in loading images in the menus. Hopefully that's just a first day hiccup. As you can see in the image below, the square that is highlighted doesn't show up for a few seconds, so you'll have to give it a little time to load everything in. The good thing is you won't have to reload it once it is there. The bad thing is if you completely exit out of the PLAYSTATION Store, you'll have to wait for them to reload again. This could be because the servers are busy during the first day debut of the PLAYSTATION Store. We'll see how things go later this week.

The update doesn't say anything about the DTS-HD Master and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio output for Blu-ray discs announced to be coming with this firmware update last week. Listen for any difference in your HD setup.

Watch a video walkthrough of the new PLAYSTATION Store below, from Sony Computer Entertainment America. Watch for more details from the PlayStation website's System Update page.
