Strum With Your Foot: Ben Heck's Guitar Hero Pedal Controller PDF Print E-mail

Ben Heck is up to some new tricks again, putting the metal to the pedal this time. The gaming hardware mod designer has created a Guitar Hero mod, the Guitar Hero pedal controller. The pedal controller places the strum and whammy bar from the Guitar Hero controller on your foot.

"What you do is use your foot and click your toes up or down to strum or navigate menus," said Ben Heck, "To perform a whammy you lift up your heel - the spring loaded plate is shown in the up (full whammy) position in the photo, but normally your heel compresses it (no whammy)."

It might give your toes a workout, but it does let you play with one hand free. See a video from Ben Heck here for a demo of the Guitar Hero pedal controller in action (via a nice music video).

Check out how it was built at Benheck.com

I just wanted to say that that Ben truly is a Godsend. I have the use of only one arm and Ben has been Gracious enough to build me a pedal. It is in the works now and I should be FINALLY playing Guitar Hero with my friends.

It's funny, My girlfriend and I have PS2 and have Guitar Hero 1, 2, 80's, 3, Rockband, and 360 with Guitar hero 3, yet i have had to sit ansd watch while everyone enjoy's playing.

I can't wait to get this pedal. I'll be posting a video on Youtube the day of.

Thanks Ben!
