Looks like this is another indication of videogames' popularity compared to film. The Los Angeles Film school just added two new associates degrees: one in game development, and the other in computer animation. The school describes the majors this way: "The Game Development Associates Program will provide an opportunity for students seeking an education in video game development. It will cover the process of creating a video game from the initial stages of game structure and preproduction, to advanced coding, artificial intelligence, and game engine creation. The Computer Animation Associates Program will allow students to learn the animation pipeline used throughout the industry to create art and special effects for games, television, and film. It will feature training in advanced modeling software to create virtual models, characters, and visual effects for a variety of multimedia applications." In case you're wondering how much tuition is, both new majors will wind up at around the $38,000 mark. For more information about the school and its programs, click here.
