Videogame Sales For April 2008 From NPD Group

No surprise on the #1 selling game for the month of April 2008. Keep in mind, Grand Theft Auto IV was released on April 29th, so it just made it in for the month. Spin the numbers any way you like (we know the console manufacturers love to) or just read the numbers straight up:

April 2008 videogame hardware sales (in units):
1. Wii: 714.2K
2. Nintendo DS: 414.8K
3. Sony PlayStationPortable: 192.7K
4. Xbox 360: 188K
5. PS3: 187.1K
6. PS2: 124.4K

April 2008 videogame software sales (in units):
1. Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360) - 1,850,000*
2. Mario Kart Wii (Wii) - 1,120,000
3. Grand Theft Auto IV (PlayStation 3) - 1,000,000*
4. Wii Play (Wii) - 360,000
5. Super Smash Brothers Brawl (Wii) - 326,000
6. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (PS3) - 224,000
7. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Darkness (DS) - 202,000
8. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time (DS) - 202,000
9. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Wii) - 152,000

Any predictions for what will make tops in May 2008? I'm betting Wii Fit will make a strong debut on the charts, and GTA IV will continue to be on top. Wii Play is a permanent fixture on the list. Maybe we'll see some Iron Man and Boom Blox in the mix?
