How I Landed GTA IV For 8 Cents and How You Can Get New Games For Pennies PDF Print E-mail

Gamers know that gaming isn't a cheap hobby to have. Avid gamers are always on the lookout for the best deals for their buck, especially in times like these. Good deals pop-up every once in a while, but probably the best deal I've ever had was landing a brand new copy of Grand Theft Auto IV for 8 cents. That's right, 8 cents for a new copy of GTA IV, delivered from Circuit City. With a little strategy and luck, you may be able to land yourself a similar deal from Unique Auction.

Unique Auction is a site where you place a bid on an item, or in this case, a videogame! Unlike bidding on eBay, you name the amount based on the retail price of a product. Take GTA IV, for example. With a retail price tag of $59.99, you have to bid anywhere between .01 cents to .59 cents. Also, unlike eBay, it's the most unique bid that wins, not the highest bidder. That means that 8 cents that I bid on GTA IV was the most unique number entered from the range of .01-.59. So for example, if 3 people bid .57, 2 people bid .04 and one person bids .08, the person that bid .08 wins the auction for 8 cents.

Basic members get five free bids per auction. As the site states: "As a Basic Members you are allowed to place 1 Free bid during the initial 20% of total bidding time (ie End time - Start Time). After this restricted time you are allowed to place 4 more Free bids. You can upgrade membership to get place more Free bids." The upgraded membership costs $9.99 a month. It not only lets you place more bids, but gives you a tool to search and determine unique bids to place. I should note that on the GTA IV auction I bid on, I won using basic membership. You can read up on more details on how Unique Auction works here.

Some auctions for games you should check out:

- Grand Theft Auto IV: for up to .59 cents (starts 5/21/08 after 10:00 am and ends on 5/28/08).
