Wii Fit Limited Supplies Causes Drop Off UK Game Sales Charts; A Foretelling Of US Numbers? PDF Print E-mail

Wii Fit just launched last week in the US. If you've been looking for Wii Fit in stores, it's likely to be just as hard to find as the Wii console has been. Local GameStop stores I spoke to sold out of their initial Wii Fit supplies to pre-orders alone. The estimated Wii Fit units distributed per store in the area were a very slim 8-12 units. That's barely anything when compared to software launches, like Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Online retailers are out of stock. Amazon.com ran out a week before launch. Other major online retailers are sold out as well. If you know of a retailer selling it at the $89.99 MSRP, let us know! Otherwise, it's once again secondhand eBay price gouging, where it's marked up anywhere from $20-$60 (or more).

A report on the latest UK game sales numbers from GamesIndustry.biz says Wii Fit has fallen off the charts. Nintendo looks like it's once again caught in a game of catch-up for Wii Fit in the UK. That only foretells what may also happen in May's NPD numbers in the US. Looks like Nintendo hardware production just can't keep up with the demand. A good and bad thing.
