Finally no more staring at the abandoned handycam footage. The countdown to the launch of the Resident Evil 5 website has ended, and you can now check out some new details on the survival horror game. The new trailer shows Chris Redfield and a new female character as they make their way through a contaminated region of Africa.

A bit on the plot in Resident Evil 5 has been revealed: "Chris Redfield, returning Resident Evil hero, has followed the path of the evil literally around the globe. After joining a new organization, Chris heads to Africa where the latest bioterrorism threat is literally transforming the people and animals of the city into mindless, maddened creatures."

There's also a gallery of images, with some previously seen and new screenshots. From the new trailer, you can see some familiar Resident Evil elements: rabid dogs, exploding barrels, chainsaws and infected, bloodthirsty villagers.

Visit the official Resident Evil 5 website here to see the new trailer and details! Resident Evil 5 is coming for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3.
