Seems like a downloadable demo of Arkanoid DS may be foretelling of no DS Paddle support in the US. Even if you imported the DS Paddle. If you missed details on the DS Paddle, the accessory is included in Taito's Japanese release of Arkanoid DS. The US release seemed like it was in limbo, until Square Enix announced that it would be publishing the US release of Arkanoid DS (and Space Invaders Extreme). Unfortunately, the US release of Arkanoid DS would not include the DS Paddle accessory.
A demo for Arkanoid DS was recently released for download from the Wii's Nintendo Channel. DS Fanboy went to give their imported DS Paddle a spin on the demo, but to their dismay, was met with no Paddle support in the Control options. The only options on the Arkanoid DS game demo are "Stylus" or "Control Pad" play. Keep in mind that this is a demo, so we don't know for sure if there is any DS Paddle support in the US release. At the same time, don't import a DS Paddle in hopes of using the controller on the US release. If you gotta have your Paddle, you can always import the Japanese version for $49.99 from Play-Asia. Arkanoid will be coming to the Nintendo DS on June 17, 2008 from Square Enix, for $19.99, sans Paddle. From DS Fanboy
