Rumors of the original Metal Gear Solid game coming to the Xbox LIVE Arcade have been spreading around the 'net as of last week. Gaming website Ripten reported on the rumor, where it was said to have been spotted by one of their contacts on PartnerNet. "PartnerNet" is accessible only from Xbox 360 debug kits, used by developers and some gaming media for previews of unreleased games.
The original Metal Gear Solid PSone game is available from Japan's PLAYSTATION Store for the PS3 and PSP, and weighs in at 780 MB. Downloads from the Xbox LIVE Arcade are currently capped at 350 MB, so quite a bit of compression (or an exception) would have to be made to release MGS on the XBLA. Unless it was an Xbox Originals game. The only Metal Gear Solid game released on the original Xbox was Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance. The original Metal Gear Solid was never released on the Xbox platform, but it was for PCs in 2000. From Ripten
