Sony PSP Firmware Update 4.0 Now Available [Update]

A firmware update (aka system update) for the Sony PlayStation Portable is scheduled to come soon. Version 4.0 will bring the following features to the Sony PSP:
- Google Internet search function from the XMB (XrossMediaBar).
- Fast or slow playback speeds of videos on your Memory Card using the up or down d-pad buttons.
Currently, firmware version 3.95 is available. Watch the PSP System Update page for the latest available firmware or check for it via your PSP's "Network Update" function.
UPDATE 6/17/08: Firmware 4.0 is now available for the PSP.

I bought it as a package deal at an airport 6 moths ago , the plan was to transfer my DIVX files onto there 'cos my notebook's battery life life doesn't last for the duration of my flight! Once on the plane I unpacked the box , how disappointed I was.. NO DEMO GAMES, NO DIXV PLAYER! WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY ! Used to like SONY , but no more. You can't even burn disks for this stupid piece of crap. Just goes to show how narrow minded proprietry devices and ideas are. Hope some other sucker wants to buy this junk from me! I was robbed ! And SONY ... YOU FARKING SUCK !!!

I don't even care about the video speeds if I can't play divix or avi.
I don't have wireless so the crappy google Search is just a waste of my psp resources. just like the dumb skype I never even heard of skype tell the update that had it. my psp runns so much slower playing certian games than it did on 3.70, I give this update a 0/10.

I was expecting something useful, like an UPDATED FLASH PLAYER for youtube, cnet, dailymotion, ect, because many sites use flash now, and an update would be very useful. and to make browsing faster, they should have mad an update (if hardware capable) that uses remaining Memory Stick memory as Cache for browsing. But instead of any of those useful things, they come up with something completely unexpected and pretty much useless: the Google Search... its not much of a struggle to just go to google search. it saves only like 20 seconds of time. and it only does a web search, no image or anything, just web... That is the most useless thing that i've ever seen on the PSP! As for the speeding up/slowing down videos, it gets funny with certain videos, but its only something i'd expect in a very minor update like a 4.10 update. PLEASE Sony, make better updates soon!

A Google search? Meh. I hope Sony are teasing us with this and there's a lot more to 4.0 than they are currently letting on, otherwise this is a severe disappointment.
