For the few gamers who may want to play Metal Gear Online without having to buy Metal Gear Solid 4, the online multiplayer game will soon be available separately for 1800 Yen (about $17 USD). That's in Japan only for now. Although MGO is included in MGS4, Konami has decided to offer MGO on its own in Japan starting July 17. Hideo Kojima mentioned the news during a Metal Gear Solid 4 signing in Tokyo on June 28th. No word if a solo MGO release will happen in other regions.

It was also mentioned that the Metal Gear Online World Championship 2008 would be commencing soon. No specific date on that yet, but get practicing now on Metal Gear Online! See some tips here.

Check out more of Metal Gear Online here at the official website.
