Trophies Are Retroactive, At Least When Save File Is Tied To PSN ID PDF Print E-mail

Although Sony had previously announced that Trophies were not retroactive (credit for previous accomplishments), it looks like that may not be the case. At least depending on whether or not game developers have tied the game saves to your PlayStation Network ID. Thanks to the forward thinking developers of Burnout Paradise, Criterion Games, Trophies will be retroactive in Burnout Paradise.

From the blog post at Criterion Games: "We will support PlayStation Trophies in a future update of Burnout Paradise. Trophies will be awarded based on your progress in your existing save game - so, when the update arrives the trophies you have earned will reflect the progress you've made in the game at that time (so you won't have to replay the game again to earn trophies)."

The Burnout Paradise Trophy update won't be in before July 10th, when the "Codename: Cagney" update is scheduled to hit. Could this mean other online PS3 games that are tied to your PSN ID could get Trophy support? We'll find out more soon!
