A new videogame is in development simultaneously with its cinematic
counterpart, and that would be none other than Watchmen. The original
Alan Moore/Dave Gibbons vision is being brought to the gaming world,
with the assistance of producers from the film. In the Watchmen game, you will assume the roles of
either Rorschach or Nite Owl, while exerting your superhero might upon
a world which views masked characters as vermin.
Watchmen is being developed by Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment, and will not be a disc-based title. The exploration of the characters and their universe will played across several episodes in the form of downloadable episodes. The downloadable episodes will expand the universe in the form of prequels to the movie. "We're bringing the Watchmen universe to gamers in a distinct episodic game revealing action and combat for a great overall experience for fans," said Samantha Ryan, Senior VP, Production and Development of Warner Bros. Interactive Expect a 2009 release for this title based in a dementia riddled 1985 America. Watch for the release on the Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows PC systems. No official ESRB rating has been made just yet.
