EA paints a rich backstory for Dead Space, taking us sci-fi and survival horror buffs through a comic series, animated film and ultimately throwing us into the experience with the videogame. Here's the next major precedent for the Dead Space videogame- the Dead Space: Downfall animated film. Continuing where the comic book series left off, the animated movie will set the stage for what will follow in the videogame.
From EA: "The story focuses on the events aboard a futuristic mining spaceship, the USG Ishimura, after it pulls a mysterious artifact from a remote dig site. The artifact triggers the sudden invasion of a long-dormant alien presence, and the Ishimura’s crewmembers find themselves locked in a frantic struggle to survive.
