| Gamers Gather For Two Day Pokémon Video Game Showdown |

Beijing wasn't the only global gathering for competition this weekend. The 2008 Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) World Championships and Pokémon Video Game Showdown brought together more than 400 players from across the globe this past weekend. The two day event took place in Orlando, Florida, which was hosted by Pokémon USA, Inc.
Finalists from previous Pokémon competitions had a chance to put their skills to the ultimate test in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) World Championships and the Pokémon Video Game Showdown (for Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl). For the Pokémon Video Game Showdown, it came down to two winners in the end. One for the junior division and one from the senior division. The winners of the Pokémon Video Game Showdown were:

The 350 people from nearly 30 countries who qualified for the TCG World Championships spent countless hours preparing, and survived a storm of battles though an entire season of competitions that included city, state, regional and national tournaments. Each of the three first place TCG finishers received a grand prize that includes a scholarship award worth $7,500 and an invitation to the 2009 World Championships. In total, the value of the scholarships divided amongst the TCG participants from 1st through 16th place in all age divisions totaled more than $100,000.
