Lock's Quest is a Nintendo DS game coming from developer 5th Cell and publisher THQ's "Play THQ" label on September 8, 2008. You may remember 5th Cell from another creative Nintendo DS game, Drawn To Life. Lock's Quest places you in control of Lock, an Archineer (that's part architect, part engineer), whose mission is to protect "Source Artifacts" from Lord Agony and his minions. They'll be pounding away at your fortress, so you'll need a strategy to fend off the invaders. Lock's Quest is a blend of real time strategy and action gaming.
We have a preview video of Lock's Quest, which helps demonstrate the Building Phase of the game. Check it out to see how designing your structure and fighting off enemies plays out in the DS game. See the "Building Phase" demo video below.
Building Mode:
-The top screen will be used as HUD and players can compile the draggable structures to quickly build the required structure and color it as desired with the stylus. Other manipulations such as rotation and decal are also very easy to use;
-Lock must build structures inside the village;
-Lock must construct all necessary defensive items to prepare the battle; each session has only about 2-minute for the players to prepare the upcoming invasion.
An overview of the game:
"In Lock’s Quest, players will assume the role of young hero Lock, as he defends his homeland from the imminent attack of robotic invaders. As an Archineer—part architect, part engineer—Lock uses his skills to build new structures around the sacred Source Artifacts with the ultimate goal of protecting them from the infiltrators. Players can utilize different materials such as stone, metal, or wood to create and design defense towers in the battle field. There are also quirky weapons such as quicksand traps and glue cannons that the player can use to attack enemies. Construction Combat: Lock’s Quest combines the action/adventure and life simulation genres in in a fast-paced broadly appealing game consisting of successive waves of building and battling. Elements of strategy and puzzle-solving are also incorporated to reward more sophisticated players. Players will be able to challenge friend through multi-card play."
