Lost my PSP2000 and FF Dissidia game along with it so I had to get the FF edition PSP 3000 (since the games are all sold out)
Hate the new screen. Even changing the color setting to normal, it looks nothing like the PSP2000. I tried the normal setting on MHP2G and it sucked big time.... Thinking of getting a PSP2000 later if I can't stand the 3000. |

I've just now been considering buying the PSP. I didn't realise until I checked it out in the Philippines that homebrew was possible. I think that is an essential feature.

There is no difference while playing on psp 3000 or the 2000 except for the 'color space' on the 3000 (that's lame anyway. It only makes the picture bad). I had to choose between psp 2000 and 3000 - no difference in price.

The crappy screen is Colorspace on the PSP 3000. If it's turned off, which you can do in the settings, it will look exactly like a PSP 2000 screen. It's lighter, Anti Glare Technology on the screen, I've heard it's a little more scratch resistant, the scanning feature of the PSP (Lines horizontally displayed)I've also heard will disappear whe you turn Colorspace off, If you have a PSP 1001, then I'd get one. 2000, if your a collector, or just like the features. Anti-glare really helps alot :P |

I own a 1000 model & my girlfriend owns a 2000. The better colors is nice but I'm not nuts about the "slim" feel. The biggest problem however (Which neither comparison review mentions) is the battery life. We've noticed (while playing Monster Hunter Freedom) that the 2000 model has roughly a third less battery life in it that the 1000, and mine was well used to begin with! So unless that's fixed in the 3000: No sale. |

Not really an upgrade model for previous users, however I personally think the color on the new model blows doors on the PSP-2000. I purchased the PSP-3000 and FF VII: Crisis Core and I couldn't be happier. I was Skyping with my relatives in Europe too, so the built in mic kicks ass! And even though it's a small change, the improved analog stick really is a big help for more precise control. On top of it all, the PSP-3000 comes in a rad matte silver colour, a free game, AND a free movie, AND a 1GB Duo Pro memory stick. Choice is pretty simple. |

I would say the only issue with the PSP-3000 is the interlacing like effect. The screen upgrade is not major. Don't let that be the determining factor. When the DS upgraded it's brightness setting, it was a BIG difference. Here it is subtle. Even the anti-glare isn't a big difference. The only notable reason to upgrade is one: the internal mic. Everything else is minor. Should have been the PSP-2300. If you can get a PSP-2000 cheaper, go for that. If it's the same price (which it really is in most places other than used), go for the 3000. If you already have a 2000, don't upgrade. If you have a 1000... it's time to upgrade. |

You can turn OFF the colorspace option in the settings and then the colors look identical in the 2000 and 3000 versions. The 3000 is basically superior to the 2000 in every way except that it can't be hacked for homebrew. |

I'm looking into getting a PSP and my friend has offered to sell me his 2000 for $80 (w/o games). It's in pretty good condition but I don't know if I should buy his or get myself a new 3000 for $200. Any suggestions? |

I don't see a notable enough difference in the 3000 to justify getting a new psp. I'm happy with my 2000, which i got very shortly before the announcement of the 3000. I was ticked at first, but now that I see the lack of improvement, I'm not so hurt. |
