Early sales numbers on Gears of War 2 are being reported. Microsoft has tallied 2 million units sold worldwide for Gears of War 2, as of the weekend. The launch took place simultaneously in 20 countries.
“We were so excited to launch ‘Gears of War 2’ on the same day all around the world, something virtually unheard of in the games business,” said Cliff Bleszinski, design director at Epic Games. “We wanted our fans, no matter where they live, to have a shared experience on day one, and that’s exactly what’s happened.” Players racked in millions of achievements (19 million says Microsoft) in Gears of War 2, with 15 million gameplay hours as well, over the weekend.
