Game sales continute to be strong and immune to the general retail sales slup in October. With big videogame titles unloading in October, and many more in November, we won't be seeing a slowdown despite the state of the economy. Many of the game titles in October's top 10 came out during the middle, or very end, of the month. We may see them higher up in the charts in November (Fallout 3, LittleBigPlanet). For game systems, no major surprises there. Nintendo reportedly released more inventory of Wii stock out in the wild, spiking it up the charts (not that it has never been anywhere but #1 or #2 in the last months). The Xbox 360 also had a sales spike thanks to the new low prices of the system across its lineup.

October 2008 Game Hardware Sales (units sold):
1. Wii - 803k
2. Nintendo DS - 491k
3. Xbox 360 - 371k
4. Sony PlayStation Portable - 193k
5. PLAYSTATION 3 - 190k
6. PlayStation 2 - 136k

October 2008 Top 10 Game Sales (units sold):
1. Fable II (Xbox 360) 790k
2. Wii Fit (Wii) 487k
3. Fallout 3 (Xbox 360) 375k
4. Mario Kart Wii with Wii Wheel (Wii) 290k
5. Wii Play with Wii Remote (Wii) 282k
6. Saints Row 2 (Xbox 360) 270k
7. SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation bundled with Bluetooth Headset (PS3) 231k
8. LittleBigPlanet (PS3) 215k
9. NBA 2K9 (Xbox 360) 202k
10. Dead Space (Xbox 360) 193k

Don't be surprised to see Gears of War 2 on the top of the charts in November, along with Resistance 2 and the World of Warcraft: Lich King expansion. Is there room for titles like Left for Dead, Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe and Animal Crossing: City Folk on the list? November will be a huge month.
