November 2008 Video Game Sales From NPD Group |

Don't tell the game industry there's a recession. The gaming industry flourished in November 2008 with $2.91 billion in total sales. The NPD Group has reported on videogame sales for the very busy game release month of November 2008. Nintendo still retains the stronghold on the first and second spot in game system sales with the Wii and DS. Nintendo stated: "The Wii console sold more than 2 million in November, a new all-time record for a non-December month."
“Nintendo’s record-breaking sales demonstrate that consumers are looking for the best value not only among video games, but also among all entertainment options,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Shoppers are looking for gifts that can be enjoyed by the whole family, and Nintendo provides an incomparable range of experiences that gets the whole family involved.”
In the third spot for game hardware sales was the Xbox 360, likely due to Gears of War 2 as well as the Xbox 360 Holiday bundles. The PSP beat out PS3 sales, taking the fourth spot thanks to the PSP-3000. Maybe Sony's PS3 could have fared better with a lower price tag or a LittleBigPlanet bundle, rather than the $499 120GB Uncharted bundle.
