There's a killer little portable shooter game, and it's not available on the DS or PSP. It's on the iPhone and iPod Touch, at an incredible deal for $2. Dropship is a new touch control shooter, released just this past week on December 9th from ngmoco.

Your left thumb, used anywhere along the left side of the screen, controls your movement. Your right thumb controls your shooting direction. The control scheme works great. Graphics are pretty simple, yet colorful like Geometry Wars. The soundtrack provides some pumping quality tech tunes.

Basically, you have to navigate your ship around levels to pickup a green package. You'll have a limited time after finding it to successfully extract it. Along the way, there are turrets to avoid and friends to rescue by swooping them up - carefully. It's worth stopping to pick them up for the extra fire power.

There's a Campaign mode, which has increasingly difficult levels. Avoid turrets and pickup your friends, whose names are pulled from your iPhone's address book. Neat little feature. Free Play mode is a longer mode of gameplay to challenge you and extend the replay value of Dropship.

You'll also find a Downloads section, which currently has three challenging bonus levels. One is a Christmas themed tree level, the other is a Chanukah level. There's also a crazy complex maze to navigate.

Dropship even uses Achievements, like the Achievement Points on the Xbox 360 or Trophies on the PlayStation 3 for milestones in your gameplay. Some are fairly easy to unlock, while others are challenging.

Dropship is currently $1.99 from the App Store. This is one game you can't go wrong with on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Great for getting your gaming fix! Check out more on Dropship here at the official website.
