With the advent of WiiWare has risen a rush of indie game development. Semnat Studios, the startup company of Daniel Coleman and Robert DeMaria are keen on capitalizing on the opportunity to create a game. Their first title to hit the market is Eduardo the Samurai Toaster for the Wii's WiiWare platform. The title, although it suggests themes of "hack-n-slash", is actually a 2D shooter side-scroller. The game features 13 levels with the main character, Eduardo, relying on various "pastry pickups" throughout to help embellish his powers. Eduardo the Samurai Toaster will also feature an assortment of odd characters to combat with. To name a few of some of Eduardo's enemies, you'll face Peking Opera pastries, spear toting carrots, robotic mangos, and... you get the point. It may seem tasty, but its obvious Eduardo will be in for some serious action. A unique feature to point out is more so of a design feature, and that is the game's art design. Due to obvious production limits, Semnat Studios has taken similar steps, as done with other indie games and decided to hand draw the in-game art. This decision, to use hand drawn art, helps add flavor to a game market that's over saturated with the who's who in polygonal chauvinism. Eduardo the Samurai Toaster will be gunning his way onto the Wii exclusively, this winter. See more screenshots on Eduardo the Samurai Toaster here at the official website.
