Microsoft has announced the release dates of new map packs coming for Gears of War 2 and Halo 3 in the weeks ahead. Each one of the games will be getting new places to play in for 800 Microsoft Points ($10).

Here are the details from Microsoft:
"On 31st March, the Snowblind map pack gives “Gears of War 2” players a chance to cool off with four new, winter-themed environments: Grindyard, Under Hill, Courtyard, and a frozen version of the “Gears of War” favorite, Fuel depot. Hot on the heels of Snowblind comes the highly-anticipated “Halo 3” Mythic Map Pack, releasing 9th April with three new maps: Assembly, Orbital and Sandbox."

A Gears of War 2 game update (Title Update 3) will be released as well on March 24, 2009. See the details here.

Details on the Gears of War 2 Snowblind map pack:
- Grind Yard, a massive industrial complex with low bunkers and high sniping positions.
- Under Hill, which takes players through snowbound tunnels and beyond.
- Courtyard, a wide-open battle royale.
- The popular Gears 1 map Fuel Depot, back with a blast of winter courtesy of Mother Nature, aka Epic Games.

The Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack was previously available only in the Halo Wars Limited Edition game, but will soon be available on its own.
