Game Developers Conference 2009

Wii System update 4.0 is available today, which brings the long awaited functionality to play Wii Shop downloaded games from an SD card. The feature was announced at Nintendo's keynote today at GDC09. The SD Card Menu will give you access to play games stored on your SD card. You'll also have the option of downloading games directly from the Wii Shop to the SD card.

Another bit of good news is that you are no longer limited to using a 2GB SD card with the Wii. Higher capacity 32 GB SD cards can now be used too. Great news for Rock Band gamers. A single card can now hold up to 240 games. The Wii Shop should enjoy a healthy amount of sales with the previous limitation of Wii system capacity now out of the way.

Time to stock up on those SD Cards and Wii Points!
