Squibs Arcade is a collection of games that will be poking some fun of some current generation games, and throwing them back to an old-school format: the plastic LCD handheld. It's going to be virtually done through Nintendo's WiiWare by developer Alten8 Limited. The game collection was showcased at Nintendo Europe's WiiWare Media Summit.

See a collection of screenshots below and try to guess what games they are making a parody of.

About Squibs Arcade:
"SQUIBS ARCADE is a collection of Games, which initially were based on the old style of LCD games. This germ of an idea then grew into a much bigger concept. SQUIBS ARCADE takes inspiration from the current generation of AAA titles, distilling the game play to its most fundamental form, and re-imagining them with the style and passion of the classic LCD games. The titles within SQUIBS ARCADE are – Clown, Gun Cogs, Crowd Wader, Button Basher, Fantasy Turn Base, Call of Honour, Jack-a-motor, Lots of Levelling, Cardboard Axel Mush, We're Fat, and Regret the Fist. The game titles being both homages and parodies of the games which inspired them. Alten8 believes that SQUIBS ARCADE will appeal to both casual game players, but also hardcore game fans, who will recognise the tributes Alten8 is paying to their favourite games, and also enjoy the genuine addictive game play to be found in SQUIBS ARCADE."

This is the first of several games to be released in the next few months via WiiWare by Alten8. The game developer also has a few other games lined up for WiiWare, which are briefly described below:

Tractor Tom's Puzzle Farm – based on the popular children's TV show.
Eternity's Child – The long awaited platform game based on the Luc Bernard PC game.
Alien Autopsy – Based on the internationally known IP, TV documentaries, and Film.
Mark Hinchcliffe's Game Series – New IP based on the Mark Hinchcliffe character.
Other TV and Film and internal IP to be announced soon also.

Watch for Squibs Arcade in the second quarter of 2009.
