Nintendo reports first week of Nintendo DSi sales at 435,000 units sold |

Following the NPD Group video games sales for March 2009, Nintendo has reported the first week sales of the Nintendo DSi for April 5th to 11th. The debut week of the Matte Black and Matte Blue DSi were the strongest sales for the DS platform, surpassing the DS Lite's first week debut.
From Nintendo:
"Early U.S. sales of the new Nintendo DSi hand-held system are ahead of those for Nintendo DS Lite, according to Nintendo’s internal tracking numbers. In its first week, Nintendo DSi sold 435,000 in the United States. After the same amount of time on the U.S. market after its launch, Nintendo DS Lite had sold 226,300 systems. These numbers demonstrate that the Nintendo DS brand remains strong, and that consumers continue to look for the best new experiences on their portable video game systems."
Nintendo now has a third contender for the top video game hardware spots for April 2009 video game sales. The Wii, DS Lite and DSi will likely be taking a huge chunk of video game hardware sales.
