Gamers who purchase the PLAYSTATION 3 release of Batman: Arkham Asylum will be getting a little extra incentive for buying it on the platform. Eidos and Warner Bros. Interactive have announced that The Joker will be exclusively available as a playable character in the PLAYSTATION 3 release. You'll be able to play as The Joker in the Challenge Maps of the game (see a trailer for the Challenge Maps here). The Joker will be available for download from the PlayStation Network at the same time of the game's release.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is scheduled for an end of June 2009 release on the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3.

Amazon.com is offering a Batman: Arkham Asylum comic book for free with pre-orders of the Batman: Arkham Asylum Collectors Edition. It's also available for $94.99 ($5 less than other retailers). Pre-order the Batman: Arkham Asylum Collectors Edition for the PLAYSTATION 3 here and Xbox 360 here.

No word yet if the Xbox 360 will be getting an exclusive playable character. An early look at pre-order sales of Batman: Arkham Asylum on Amazon.com shows that the sales of the PLAYSTATION 3 version are currently outselling the Xbox 360 version.
