High Voltage Software, developers of The Conduit, have revealed their next Wii game in the works, Gladiator A.D. Revealed via IGN, several of the High Voltage Software team describe the one-on-one fighting game that pits unique Gladiators against each other.

"The concept for Gladiator A.D. is to recreate the brutal fighting and high tension of the gladiatorial arenas of ancient Rome," said David Pellas, design director of Gladiator A.D, "We are developing a game that is both fast-paced and tactical in nature."

From the first screenshots of Gladiator A.D., you can see High Voltage Software isn't holding back from the brutality of the ancient sport and is clearly geared towards Mature gamers.

Here are some of the features noted in the IGN article:

- Will incorporate RPG elements
- Uses The Conduit's Quantum3 engine, with some advances in graphics
- Coliseum's crowd reacts to fights
- Strategic fighter ("no button-mashing")
- You can customize weapons, armor and moves
- Powerful attacks may result in slow-motion style blocking attempts (inspired by the film 300)
- Will use Wii Remote, Nunchuk and Wii MotionPlus
- Execution, humiliation, and brutality moves
- Environmental kills (spiked columns, fire and lions)
- Composer Jeff Beal is doing soundtrack (HBO series Rome)
- Split-screen multiplayer mode
- Estimated for a Quarter 1 2010 release
