A handful of world records were given out to game companies such as Nintendo, Microsoft, Blizzard, Activision and more during the Electronic Entertainment Expo this week. Representatives from the book, Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition, were attending E3 to give out a few honors for gaming records. All of the following records will be added in the Guinness World Records 2010: Gamer's Edition, which will arrive at stores early next year.

- Nintendo received the record for the 'Best Selling Video Game' for the game Wii Sports, which has sold 45.7 million copies to date.

- Microsoft received the record for the 'Most Popular Online Console Gaming Service' which serves over 20 million active subscribers

- Blizzard Entertainment was given two records. The first one deals with Blizzard's World of Warcraft game which achieved 'Most Popular MMORPG' and Starcraft achieved the 'Best Selling Strategy Game for a PC' title. Two very impressive records!

- Bethesda Softworks was also thrown into the Guinness World Records for the 'Fastest-selling Multi Platform RPG' after Fallout 3 sold a whopping 4.7 million copies within the first week of sales.

- The team at Infinity Ward achieved 'Most Played Online Video Game' which accumulated 15 million minutes played in their previous game, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

- Red Octane has sold over 25 millions copies of their Guitar Hero franchise and received the record for 'Best-selling Rhythm Game Series'.

Make sure you check out Guinness World Records 2010: Gamer's Edition when it is released early next year.
