New Super Mario Bros. Wii game will feature autoplay to get you past the hard parts

Imagine you're stuck and repeatedly losing lives try to jump through a level in the upcoming New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Now imagine at the press of a button, you can let the Wii take gameplay over for you and get you past the tough parts. That's exactly what is being built into the Wii game, New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It'll be the first Nintendo game to feature that function.
"In New Super Mario Bros Wii, if a player is experiencing an area of difficulty, this will allow them to clear troubled areas and take over when they're ready," said Miyamoto. "And yes, we're looking into this for future games, too."
More specifics on how it would work remain to be revealed. Since it is a 4-player local co-operative game, it may be useful for having your less-skilled friends or family join in on the fun (if it is usable that way). It may be good to use that way, taking the frustration out of gaming for the casual player. Should it be active in the single-player mode of play? It may be too tempting for some to resist by having it so accessible, eliminating the challenge of the game. Maybe you'll get extra points or a better ending for not using it? What do you think about Nintendo including this "demo play" feature in games? Good or bad?

Good Idea Written by darke on 2009-06-15 11:20:45I think this mechanic would be wonderful if they take your suggestions, or just leave it out of single player entirely. Somehow, I don't think that will happen through .
Game isn't out yet. Written by Guest on 2009-06-15 11:54:55I think the post above is confused with the DS version of New Super Mario Bros. This is the Holiday 2009 Wii version.
That would SUCK for me! Written by Guest on 2009-06-15 23:34:10 I was planning on playing this game with untalanted mario bros. players and going all out on them, but if this feature comes out, they'll just turn that on every time I'm about to attack them, and suddenly I'll be fighting a computer OR they'll just turn it on for the whole game. PLUS, it takes the whole challenge out of it. I say Nintendo needs to make something like it only works when you have 0 extra lives! Jeez, Miyamoto and his ideas!

i'm sorry but this is terrible Written by Guest on 2009-06-23 21:32:40it's just trying to help the casual gamers play that's all they care about they don't want 10 yr olds crying to moms that they can't do stuff we WANT A Challenge!
PLEASE READ NINTENDO FANS Written by Guest on 2009-07-30 04:59:02You guys is it just me? I mean Nintendo is my favourite game company but its like they're leaving us, the gamers that stood by them for a long time. I mean auto-play? Really? Its the difficulty of the game that makes you remember it. When you look back you go like "Oh yeah that was a good game" and you remmeber the challenging parts. Even if you don't you remember parts of the level. With auto-play you would just be like "Oh yeah I beat that game" and not remember big parts of the level. It would just be like a song you don't remember till you hear it again. Meaning you forgot stuff in the game till you play it again. I don't know I just wish Nintendo would also keep focused on hardcore gamers as well as the new casual ones. I think this might be a part of Nintendo's "makes games a regular daily thing in the future kind of like going for a jog" plot.
