3-D arrives to this generation of home console gaming. Disney Interactive Studios will be bringing two of its upcoming movie-based games to current generation game systems in stereoscopic 3-D. G-Force (on Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3) and Toy Story Mania! (Wii) will feature 3-D effects in their games with the use of the included anaglyphic 3-D glasses (red and cyan lenses). There will be 2 sets of the 3-D glasses included in each game package, for use during two-player games. That's a first for this generation of gaming.

From Disney Interactive Studios:

"G-Force and Toy Story Mania! allow the player to choose to turn on special 3-D features in the games while wearing the enclosed 3-D glasses. Using the anaglyphic 3-D glasses, players will see the action extend forward from their television screens in a three-dimensional perspective while playing the games."

“Three-dimensional technology drives the future of entertainment and Disney Interactive Studios is leading the way in video games,” said Brian Leake, vice president of technology, Disney Interactive Studios. “The stereoscopic 3-D innovation in G-Force and Toy Story Mania! adds to the already fun video game experiences for a wide audience and extends the gameplay by creating entirely new options for players.”

“Like the 3-D effects in some feature films, the goal for adding 3-D in G-Force enabled the two miniature creatures – guinea pig Darwin and housefly Mooch – to appear to come forward from the screen, which creates a unique experience for the player,” said Rob Neuman, a leading expert in 3-D technology and supervisor at Walt Disney Feature Animation. “The dawn of three-dimensional technology in films has taken over the Cineplex and it’s obvious that video games are the next medium to see this trend.”

G-Force will be available on various platforms on July 21st, but will support the 3-D feature on the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 release. Toy Story Mania! is exclusive for Wii and will be available in Fall 2009, also supporting the 3-D mode of play.

You need lcd shutter glasses for a pain free gaming experience with no compromise in qaulity.

any company using anaglyph is either desperate to jump in the market or is nuts.
