EA has sprung a new game development studio for iPhone and iPod touch games. EA's game releases such as Mass Effect Galaxy, SPORE Origins and SimCity have been previously released on the iPhone and iPod touch under the EA Mobile label. Now EA is introducing newer games to the platform with 8lb Gorilla, a small group of game developers within EA according to TouchArcade.com. This internal studio looks like it's made to be along the lines of what an independent game developer might be: a smaller group of developers, unique games (not based off an existing game series), more experimental, simple arcade gameplay, and at a low consumption cost. Zombies & Me is the first game available (here) at the App Store from 8lb Gorilla, at the budget .99 cent price. The gameplay of Zombies & Me is simple enough. You control your character around an open field, playing as zombie bait. You have to lead the zombies into a randomly appearing bombing zone to blow them up. Even though this is a new game, at first glance at the characters in Zombies & Me, I felt there was a similarity to EA's MySims characters. You can see from the 30 second video below it looks simple enough to play and isn't all that deep of a game. At the .99 cent tag, it's hard to complain and may just be a decent time killer and brief gaming fix during your waiting time somewhere. Keep a lookout for the official 8lb Gorilla website to launch at 8lbgorilla.com. More games are scheduled to come out on a monthly basis from the studio. From TouchArcade
