Looking to give yourself, or a friend, a virtual makeover? aBeauty Pro is a new App coming out this week for the iPhone and iPod touch. No, it's not a game, but a unique interactive application that lets you experiment with different makeup and eye colors. If you're wondering how you'd look with different colored contact lenses or want to give your friend a makeover without touching a brush, aBeauty Pro will let you do it quickly and easily from your iPod touch or iPhone.

You basically start with a photograph in your device's "Photo gallery" or take a picture "From camera" using the aBeauty Pro application. The shot needs to be straight on so eyes, cheeks and mouth can be edited. Your shot should be well lit and subject should have basic foundation set. You next set marks (or anchor points) on the picture for the left eye, right eye, left corner lips, and right corner lips. A zoom magnifier, or scaling the picture, helps you pinpoint areas of the face. After those points are marked in the photo, you get a bit more precision by editing the stencils for the eyes and mouth (similar to using anchor points in Adobe Illustrator). It's very simple to control and edit. aBeauty Pro will walk you through it, step by step. Once those guides are set, you're ready for the makeover.

From there on, you can start to experiment with different makeup color application. This includes eye (iris color for contact lenses), eye shadows (color, style, intensity), lips (color, intensity) and blush (color, style, intensity). Colors can be adjusted by dragging through a color spectrum. You see the results in real-time.

Photographs can be saved in your Makeup Library for editing or you can publish your edited image to your Twitter or Facebook account. You can also email the makeover picture, which is up-sampled a bit. Some of the edges of makeup application may have a hard contrast and be visible, especially in the exported photo. A slightly feathered edge may have helped with blending in the eye color (iris) and lip area.

aBeauty Pro is expected to hit the App Store this week (possibly by July 17) at a price much cheaper than Photoshop and a collection of makeup. It will cost .99 cents for the first two days of its release and then will be available at $1.99.
