Electronic Arts has announced today the date that the Spore franchise will be leaping onto Nintendo consoles. Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena will be available in North America on October 6th and worldwide on October 9th.

The sim/RPG game is finally here for the Wii! Spore Hero will be launched for the Wii, which allows you to face the epic challenge of saving your planet from being destroyed. You'll find customization features as found in previous versions of the game, including more than 250 new creature parts. See a trailer for Spore Hero below, featuring a "Shark Tank."

Spore Hero Arena will launch on the same date as Spore Hero, except it's for the Nintendo DS. With a story similar to that of Spore Hero, players will have to save the galaxy from total destruction from an unknown evil force. Build up your own creature to fight others as you embark from planet to planet collecting new parts and abilities for your creature. Not enough? Grab three friends and fight each other over local play or connect to Nintendo WiFi to fight other people around the world.

Spore Hero will be released for the Wii on October 6th for $49.99 along with Spore Hero Arena which will be released on the Nintendo DS for $29.99.
