PlayStation 3 'Motion Controller' coming in Spring 2010; first PS3 motion games announced PDF Print E-mail

The PlayStation 3 will soon be getting its own immersive gaming experience with an all new "Motion Controller" (tentative name). This isn't the SIXAXIS, the former motion sensing controller from Sony which never succeeded in being adopted by game developers. This "Motion Controller" works with Sony's PlayStation Eye (required) to deliver augmented reality gaming. It is also capable of both voice and facial recognition, including full body tracking.

Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) announced at TGS 2009 that it is scheduled for a Spring 2010 release window. The "Motion Controller" still needs to find it's formal name and price, yet to be determined by SCE. It features two motion sensors, three axes gyroscope, three axes accelerometer, rumble feedback, Bluetooth 2.0 and a Lithium-Ion rechargeable internal battery. One unique and distinct feature of Sony's "Motion Controller" is the color-changing sphere attached to it. The sphere can change colors or display different patterns.

Confirmed "Motion Controller" games to be released in 2010 include:
Ape Escape (Working Title)
Echochrome 2 (Working Title)
Eccentric Slider (Working Title)
Sing and Draw (Working Title)
Champions of Time (Working Title)
Motion Party (Working Title)
The Shoot (Working Title)
Tower (Working Title)

Some games that are out before the Motion Controller's release will be updated to support it through a software update. These include:
PAIN
Flower
Hustle Kings
High Velocity Bowling
EyePet

Watch for more details, and maybe a name, soon!

I was starting to think that I was the only one who thought the controller seemed like a Magial Super Power Wand coming from the hardcore-adult console
