PlayStation 3 gamers can now enjoy plenty more game mods in Unreal Tournament 3. Epic Games today announced custom sounds are now supported on the PlayStation 3's Unreal Tournament 3 game. Mod authors can now download the free PS3ModTools 2.1 here to cook up some PC UT3 mods for PlayStation 3 gameplay. Epic Games worked together with Sony to bring the sound tools to mod authors.

Look for many more mods to come to the PlayStation 3's Unreal Tournament III, thanks to the continued support of mod authoring from Epic Games and the community of mod developers. There is plenty of mod content (characters, weapons, vehicles, levels and total conversions) for you to download and bring over to the PlayStation 3 from the $1 Million Intel Make Something Unreal Contest (look under UT3 Community tab for downloads). There really is no other game on a current generation home console this open, and free, to game developers and players. If you're considering game development and design, Unreal Tournament III modding is a great place to test your chops.
