Microsoft has released the first episode of a five part series that breaks up Fable II into equal parts. You can download the first episode for the low price of free but to continue playing, you will have to drop an unknown price to pick up the next episodes from the Games on Demand section of Xbox LIVE. This is only a tease because the other episodes have not been announced, nor their price. This is a welcome change to the normal game release cycle of bringing out a full product straight to retail and then releasing some DLC afterwards. I love the current episodic releases by developers like Telltale Games, but the whole game in five parts could be the future of game releases. Unfortunately, this style of release could take away from the overall bottom line of the development as opposed to a classic game release. The lack of pricing for the subsequent episodes is disappointing but we can hope that it will be less than the retail price, or this entry into the Games on Demand service will get panned just like the rest of the games. Download the first episode today if you haven’t played Fable II, because it will put its hooks in you. For more information check out Xbox LIVE or xbox.com.
