PSP System Update 6.1 now available; SensMe available after update PDF Print E-mail

A new System Update (6.10) is now available for download for the PlayStation Portable. This comes right before the PSPgo launch. PSPgo owners, as well as PSP-1000 to 3000 owners, should download the update.

During the install, the following update detail is noted:
"The importing of playlists from the Media Go application is now supported under [Music]."

That's not all this enables, however. The update allows you to get SensMe, a free new music application for the PSP and PSPgo. Sony says SensMe uses "12 Tone Analysis technology to evaluate music tracks that have been imported from Media Go application on your PC to your PSP." That allows you to categorize music according to mood or feeling. Once you install the 6.10 update, go to your Music section and you will see the SensMe channels icon, which has a link to download it (14MB download). Once you download it, click on the SensMe channels icon to run it. Sony created a video demo of SensMe, which you can see below.

With this update, tethering is also enabled for the PSPgo (not other PSPs). You can use a bluetooth mobile device (phone) to connect your PSPgo to the internet when WiFi is unavailable. There are more details posted on the US PlayStation Blog of the other updates that will be available on October 1st, which explain more of the new PlayStation Store design for the PSP, and Media Go.
