Splatterhouse is scheduled for release next year from Namco Bandai Games. It's based on the side-scrolling horror game you may have played in the late '80s. With Namco Bandai Games now fully taking on the development of Splatterhouse, they've released several new screenshots. See the five new screenshots following the age gate below.

About Splatterhouse, from Namco Bandai Games:
"Now developed internally by Namco Bandai Games America Inc., gamers will be confronted by horror and gore on an unimaginable level as you take on the role of Rick, a college student possessed by a bizarre terror mask. Bent on saving his girlfriend Jennifer from horrific otherworldly creatures, Rick must obliterate a path through massive legions or nightmarish creatures."
Here are some of the gameplay features noted by Namco Bandai Games:
- The only game with a combination of horric enemies, over-the-top gore and the ability to regenerate body parts real-time.
- New “Splatterkill System” uses analog stick to rip-apart enemies with amazing responsiveness, affording a truly visceral “hands-on” experience.
- Directional blood and gore system adds to even more immersive gameplay, with fluids and guts flying and splatting in sympathetic response to attacks and environmental factors.
- Inspired from icons of the horror genre, including H.P. Lovecraft & Simon Bisley.
- A "AAA" reinvention of the famed Splatterhouse title that launched the horror-escape genre and invited the very first “parental advisory” for a video game (for gore), uniting an existing fan base and recruiting a new one.
- A supercharged soundtrack with songs from today’s most influential Heavy Metal artists.
Splatterhouse is estimated for a Q3 2010 release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
