TECMO KOEI has more details and screens on their upcoming PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game, Hokuto Musou, which was teased at the Tokyo Game Show. The name may not sound familiar to you, but it is based on the Fist of the North Star manga. Fans in North America may recall the manga/anime series, which also appeared as a SEGA Genesis game in 1989 as the Last Battle. A few screenshots and more information on the upcoming Hokuto Musou was recently released that's sure to get Fist of the North Star fans excited. At a press briefing from TECMO KOEI on October 14th at the Akasaka Blitz in Tokyo, Fist of the North Star's writer Buronson, artist Tetsuo Hara, game producer Hisashi Koinuma, and Kenji Matsubara, president of TECMO KOEI gave more details on the game. See the screenshots and CG renderings here (or fullscreen here). Details from KOEI TECMO: Taking the role of Kenshiro, gamers will unleash a myriad of devastating fighting techniques and finishing moves powerful enough to bring down whole buildings. Channeling their energy into a single deadly blow, players can strike their victims and cause them to violently explode on screen. Gamers can also let loose with Kenshiro's signature move- a ruthless flurry of ferocious punches, triggering the instantaneous breakdown of internal organs, and death." TECMO KOEI notes that Hokuto Musou will stay faithful to the manga and expand upon it (don't worry about a watered-down game like Last Battle was!). The visuals will also reinforce the look of Fist of the North Star, as you can see from the screenshots. No concrete details on a North America release yet, but TECMO KOEI announced that Hokuto Musou is estimated for a 2010 release in Japan for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
