Sony today announced a new PlayStation 3 250GB system. This is the same "PS3 Slim" hardware as the recently released PlayStation 3 120GB system, but with a higher capacity hard drive at 250GB. It'll be available starting November 3, 2009.

It's already up for pre-order at Amazon.com for $349.99. That's the MSRP of the new PS3 250 GB configuration. The current PS3 120GB is $299.99. The PS3 250GB is not a bad deal for $50 more. The PlayStation 3 250GB system comes in a gray box versus the 120GB white box.

See more details at Sony's PlayStation Blog.

Sony's Marketing Team Sucks

Whomever is making decisions as to how these systems are sold sucks. Look at how many times Sony has offered a new ps3 sku with only changing the hard drive. People can swap it out themselves for cheaper value. Lame lame lame. Sony you are confusing those who know nothing about gaming i.e. wii owners. That's why your system is in last place. You have the best game on the market, but poor marketing strategy. Look at the psp go... why buy a psp go, when I can play disc and downloaded content on the psp 3000, and if I wanted more memory I could buy a memory card. Why pay more for less... marketing strategy sucks.
Better than a hard drive swap

I think it's a much better deal as a 250GB for $50 more than 120Gb. better than a HDD swap! :zzz
