Hudson Entertainment has announced an upcoming PSP game called Creature Defense. Along with the announcement, Hudson Entertainment released some screenshots, which contained some rather curious images of Eye of Judgment PSP screens from 2007.

See screenshots of Creature Defense here.

A couple of those screens contain Eye of Judgment images as players familiar with the series will recognize the characters (besides the obvious Eye of Judgment logo and 2007 Sony copyright). Hudson Entertainment is now calling the game Creature Defense. It looks like Hudson Entertainment, or a developer of theirs, was involved in developing Eye of Judgment for the PSP at one point, based on the PlayStation 3 game. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan is working on their own Eye of Judgment Portable PSP game and showed their game at GDC 2009 in August. You can see screenshots of the current Eye of Judgment Portable PSP game in development from SCE Studios Japan here on IGN or a video trailer here on GameSpot.

Creature Defense looks like it is using the card battle gameplay mechanics from Eye of Judgment, but it is going for more of a Tower Defense gameplay mechanic as the new title.

“Creature Defense comes along when Tower Defense games are taking off in prominence and fantasy card games are beginning to be integrated into videogames,” said Mike Pepe, director of marketing of Hudson Entertainment. “Strategy gamers will love the combination of these two popular gameplay aspects encapsulated into one challenging title.”

Here is more on Creature Defense, as described by Hudson Entertainment:
"Creature Defense will place gamers in a variety of stunningly illustrated worlds where they will be tasked with defending their land from invading attackers. After creating a deck where players take into consideration the types, tolerability and elements of the enemy, the onslaught begins and continues until adversaries are defeated, or the land falls. Special skills and attacks are added to the player’s arsenal as the game goes along. With new levels and attributes to explore, as well as 50 types of Monster Cards drawn by well known illustrators available for download, Creature Defense is an ongoing adventure for strategic minded gamers."
