Undead Attack! Pinball
Undead Attack! Pinball review: Hordes of zombies are invading your iPhone and iPod touch. It is up to you to flip them off in Undead Attack! Pinball, a game which brings a creative mix of pinball and zombies. The zombies are unleashed from the top of the screen and slowly make their way to your gate, just below the bottom flippers. You'll have to defend your gate with some well placed shots against waves of undead. Pickup the zombie's dropped loot and you can purchase some additional defenses or weapon upgrades. The illustrations and graphics in Undead Attack! Pinball are a treat. Undead Attack! Pinball is a mix of 3D and colorful illustrations. Some of the zombies may be too small to appreciate during the game, but there are 5 variations of them. There are three tables included: a Cemetery, Mansion and Temple (initially locked). ![]() Undead Attack! Pinball brings unique iPhone and iPod touch controls to the pinball table. Besides a very easy to use left and right touch screen area for controlling the flippers, you'll use the accelerometer to splatter zombies with a motion controlled Spiked Ball, or makes zombies slowdown by getting them dizzy with a shake. There's also a gate defense mechanism called the "Plasma Pump" which you can re-arm with a spin of your finger on the touch screen. Because the gate you are defending is pretty obstructed by the Plasma Pump icon, it's hard to gauge when zombies are banging away at it. You can tell they are at your Gate when the Gate Energy meter, a green circle around the multiplier text, is depleting. ![]() There are two main modes of play: Quickplay (a jump into and play survival mode) and Campaign. When you're playing the Campaign mode, you may make it far in a couple of the stages, only to get stuck. You may need to restart your play on a table. It's not too clear that when you're playing the Campaign mode, you need to pause the game and select "Restart Stage" to go back to the beginning of a table. It took me some time to figure out where that option was hidden. If you find yourself unable to go forward in the Campaign due to lack of lives and zombie loot, you may need to restart or else it will be Game Over too soon. Undead Attack! Pinball brings some fresh air to standard pinball table play. Don't think of it as your typical flashy, ridiculous high scoring pinball game. The game reaches a middle ground, which almost could have used a bit more elements of pinball gameplay in it. If you're open to something different in your pinball and are a fan of zombie games, don't pass up Undead Attack! Pinball. It is also a great game for getting into the Halloween gaming spirit! The developers of Undead Attack! Pinball have provided a free Lite (demo) version on the App Store, which you can download and try here. Gameplay trailer: |
