Student's Net Down After Administrator Takes Xbox Console Home PDF Print E-mail

Several years ago, students made servers out of Xbox consoles as a way to save money from using PCs or a server. The Xbox consoles had a version of Linux installed to function as hosts to Philosophy student's web projects. After most of the staff had moved on and a new manager came into the department, he decided to take an Xbox console home to entertain his son during the summer school break. Soon after, the calls started to come in to the IT department’s help desk from Philosophy students who were unable to access their web projects.
