Here's some updates on the latest developments with the Wii:
- No microphone will built-in to the Wii controller. A headset may be used in favor, according to Shigeru Miyamoto in an interview with EGM. - The name "Wii" has been under evaluation from Nintendo after massive amounts of email complaints: "We have received over 200,000 e-mails with complaints about the Wii, and the console name has been commonly associated with urine. We have been the target of many jokes, and we strongly believe that it’s a bad thing for the company’s reputation," said a representative at Nintendo's marketing department. - The Wii's controller is still undergoing development/revisions. "We're still debating on the area of how many buttons to use," said Miyamoto, as noted by Infendo. - A gamestore in Australia listed the release date of the Wii console around November 30, 2006. - GoNintendo reveals Iga's thoughts, from an interview with Play magazine, over developing Castlevania on the Wii. "Wii is targeting some short gameplay, whereas Castlevania is a longer game. Once you get into the game you’ve been playing for so many hours it doesn’t really fit with Wii," said Iga. - The Wii's Sensor Bar is rumored to be the cause of the delay over a concrete launch date announcement from Nintendo. The Sensor Bar is the receiver of the Wii's controller movements.
